Being part of the change

UK Government was mandated to change significantly in recent years. This requirement arose from departments frequently spending millions of pounds on ICT, in exchange for lengthy, ineffective and often unsuccessful IT implementations which had been designed to underpin and support their objectives.

At Invotra, we made a conscious decision to be an innovative part of the much needed change.

The suitcases are unpacked, our LinkedIn is spinning and it already feels like an age ago, however we recently returned from our first Code for America Summit in Oakland, California.

Code for America is a movement which brings together 'Government innovators, civic-minded technologists, and entrepreneurs', and we're thrilled to align ourselves with the community.

The summit was packed with innovative visionaries who truly believe in using technology in the right way, to enable the Government to better serve our society.

Final preparations are underway, on both sides of the Atlantic, for Invotra’s first trip to San Francisco to sponsor 2016’s Code for America summit.

Of all the US conferences and events, no other public sector audience is as advanced in understanding the importance of digital evolution, user-centered design and the necessity for an improved use of digital across Government. Invotra are thrilled to align with the most advanced conversations in the United States around the crucial role of digital in this space.

In June 2014, iO1 parent company of Invotra, were asked to present at a cross parliamentary event at the Houses of Commons on the topic of open source software and the benefits it can deliver to central government.  

Passionate about innovation, Ian Paisley took the initiative to bring key minds together to facilitate a discussion.

We were happy to hear last week that the Government have announced a new policy for companies bidding for contracts.  From this month all bidders on government contracts over £10m will be required to show written commitment to an apprentice recruitment scheme.

As the elections loom and the key political parties advocate their differing manifestos, one of the elements that there isn’t too much of a disparity on is their recognition on the value of Apprenticeships.

With The Conservative Party wanting to create another 3 million apprenticeships, & Labour endeavouring to encourage an equal number of apprenticeships as university applicants within the next decade it’s immense validation regardless of who you support.
