Invotra appointed by East Herts Council to stepchange its new intranet

East Herts Council appoints Invotra

East Herts Council has appointed Invotra to transform its intranet, to encourage greater collaboration among its employees and improve efficiencies. The Council’s updated intranet is now live and is shared with its employees across four sites.

East Herts joins Invotra’s growing list of local authority clients including the recently announced Bracknell Forest in Berkshire. Invotra already provides services to 45% of central government including the Home Office, Department for Transport, Department for Work and Pensions and HMRC.

East Herts has bought Invotra in to solve several challenges the council is facing - delivering multiple services on a tight budget, siloed working and enabling a diverse workforce to work flexibly.

Invotra’s digital services will give East Herts staff access to a range of interactive features on its intranet ‘MyEastHerts’, including:

  • message wall to encourage collaboration
  • groups - where staff can come together and discuss a particular subject
  • a powerful content management system
  • accessibility - all features work effectively for people with visual impairments as well as accessibility software users

Invotra’s ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) intranet platform will also give East Herts access to features and functionality requested and developed for their central government counterparts, at no extra cost.

East Herts will be involved in a significant project, GOV.invotra – a digital communications platform where all Invotra’s government clients come together to discuss, share best practice and collaborate with one another, and Invotra. The project is currently in its early stages, but is gathering momentum among Invotra’s government client base.

Paul Zimmerman, Chief Operating Officer at Invotra said;

The interest in our digital services for local government is snowballing. East Herts has taken the innovative step of improving the online worklife of its employees - it is making it easier to communicate, share and ultimately be more effective to the benefit of its customers.

Leila Dewhurst, Digital Content Officer at East Herts Council added:

We couldn’t wait to launch our new Invotra intranet to our colleagues. The digital workplace is simple to use and will help to improve collaboration, communication and flexibility.

Invotra has been appointed by East Herts Council on an initial two-year contract, with the option to extend for a further two years.
