Invotra will be turning Blue on Friday May 15th in support of my young nephew Max. As some of you are aware, my nephew Max was diagnosed with the incurable, degenerative disease MPS when he was just a year old. MPS causes progressive damage throughout the body, including the heart, bones, joints, respiratory system and central nervous system. It is a very serious and ultimately fatal disease with most MPS sufferers not reaching their teenage years.

Not voted yet? 8 steps to voting for the Digital Leaders 100

Invotra are set to have an incredible year.  They’ve worked on three central government projects, appear on the Digital 100 List three times, one of the their apprentices has been nominated for Microsoft Apprentice of the Year, they’re moving to a new office in June and will also be appearing as the main sponsor for the only UK independent intranet conference - Intranet Now in October.

To win an award would be the icing on the cake - recognition for the whole team and the hard work they have put in over the last year.

Invotra apprentice has been recognised for his achievements on major government contract

Jamie Garrett, 20 from South East London left school with excellent GCSE results.  He’d already shown great aptitude in ICT, but rather than going onto higher education he decided to become an apprentice.

When Invotra went through a period of growth they decided to invest in an apprenticeship programme, one that is now stronger than ever.  Jamie approached Invotra independently about their apprenticeship programme after finishing a short term contract for London 2012 Olympics.

‘The 2015 Digital Leaders 100 list honours the highest digital achievements from across the UK’s public, private and non-profit sectors, celebrating individuals and organisations who are leveraging digital to transform the UK’s public services and its social and economic opportunities’

We’re thrilled to be short-listed for 3 awards.  The Digital Leaders programme received 700 applications at the beginning of the year, so being in the final 100 is an achievement worth celebrating.  Winning would be the icing on the cake after a very busy year of project delivery.

The right apprentice & trailblazing SaaS application - a match made in heaven

As the elections loom and the key political parties advocate their differing manifestos, one of the elements that there isn’t too much of a disparity on is their recognition on the value of Apprenticeships.

With The Conservative Party wanting to create another 3 million apprenticeships, & Labour endeavouring to encourage an equal number of apprenticeships as university applicants within the next decade it’s immense validation regardless of who you support.

More than just an Intranet

Having come from a marketing agency background I was used to understanding clients requirements quickly and developing campaigns on the fly.  So, getting to know Invotra wasn’t going to be a problem...famous last words.

Understanding ‘the product’, it’s an Intranet...tick, it’s open source...tick, it helps internal communicators and employee engagement...tick tick… Then I think, ‘but what’s Invotra’s USP?’.

The question that can make professional’s shudder.

Invotra class of 2014 / 15

We’re so proud that our Apprentices are part of a group of trail blazers!  We’ve always been proud of them, but now we are SUPER proud, prouder than Mr Proud from Proud world.  Why? Because they will have their day and be recognised in front of family and friends like all other academic students.  No longer will ‘Apprenticeships’, look like the ‘Degrees’ slightly down trodden relative!

“Knowledge itself is power” - (F. Bacon)

Ok, ok, stop it, thats not the Bacon you’re now thinking of, and no it’s not that guy on the EE advert. The man responsible for this quote is in fact; Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, inclusive of many other facets to his name, one of which being a Viscount!

Big changes for HMRC software updates and applications

In June 2014, as part of a HMRC’s Intranet replacement project, Invotra worked with the Digital Communications Team to tailor the publishing process, in order to improve the way HMRC manuals are maintained.

For (probably much needed!) reference, manuals contain guidance prepared for HM Revenue & Customs staff. The department publish these for taxpayers and their advisors, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
