Invotra Class 2014/15

Invotra class of 2014 / 15

We’re so proud that our Apprentices are part of a group of trail blazers!  We’ve always been proud of them, but now we are SUPER proud, prouder than Mr Proud from Proud world.  Why? Because they will have their day and be recognised in front of family and friends like all other academic students.  No longer will ‘Apprenticeships’, look like the ‘Degrees’ slightly down trodden relative!

“Knowledge itself is power” - (F. Bacon)

Ok, ok, stop it, thats not the Bacon you’re now thinking of, and no it’s not that guy on the EE advert. The man responsible for this quote is in fact; Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, inclusive of many other facets to his name, one of which being a Viscount!

Big changes for HMRC software updates and applications

In June 2014, as part of a HMRC’s Intranet replacement project, Invotra worked with the Digital Communications Team to tailor the publishing process, in order to improve the way HMRC manuals are maintained.

For (probably much needed!) reference, manuals contain guidance prepared for HM Revenue & Customs staff. The department publish these for taxpayers and their advisors, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Working with workflows

Workflow is a common term that’s thrown around in business. Many people are scared of the mere thought of trying to iron out a workflow, and start asking questions such as ‘How do I account for such a magnitude of people?’, ‘How do I align every step of this process to work for everyone?’, ‘How do I make sure people follow the process in the first place?!’. It’s at this point you need to stop yourself and begin thinking about the most important factor around workflows in general. The answer: simplicity.

Lost without digital

For many of us, young and well, older lets say, growing up meant that we would use a number of tried and practiced methods for helping us as individuals get by on a daily basis. If this meant relying on an arranged time to meet someone or reading a map in order to get from one location to another, it worked...ish. This time will seem not so long ago, and part of us will miss the sense of achievement certain aspects that way of life gave us.

5 reasons you're breaking up with your Intranet and moving on to a new platform!

1. Its high maintenance! - You’ve put up with its demanding and attention absorbing nature for too long now. There is only so much searching you can do for the same documents time and time again. Creating your own little techniques and tips for navigation and saving the things you like. It should be smoother and more fluid than that right?

Day to day life of being an Office Manager in a software company

“What do you do?” As an Office Manager I get asked this question a lot, people seem to forget that even for basic processes to happen there needs to be someone implementing them. Expenses, flights, internet installation, time tracking and even tea and coffee! There has to be someone there to organise and book these things, directors don’t have time to be flicking through flights to find the best deals for the fortnightly meetings. That’s where I come in!
